"About 15 years ago, astronomers detected the first planet around another star. Today, we know of hundreds of so-called "extrasolar planets" and that number is growing every week. Most of the planets known now are large and orbit close to their parent stars, but there are current missions designed to find planets like Earth around stars like our sun. I will discuss the different techniques used to find extrasolar planets, and some of the results to look forward to from missions in the coming decade."
